I’m not sure how that made you feel, though I’d be curious about that. Being a (straight) male to begin with, it seemed a bit strange to see the life of courtship-to-engagement from what would be a female perspective (got to admit, though, the description of the ad when I was first introduced to it gave it away, which somewhat irked me and I tried to avoid the same for you).
I thought the ad was especially effective because it felt like it was meant to let us see that life from a (presumably) female partner’s perspective, and shared in the joys and the low moments (death of a mother). It brought forth relate-ability, empathy, and then required the viewer to readjust and ask if the revealed male partner went through and deserved any different in the end.
