James Bond’s Invisible Car (IRL)

At least, not movie-CGI processing, and I’m referencing Die Another Day. If you were looking for the car, it’s more evident here:

@JasPanesar (Panesar.net) linked me this project from Mercedes to promote their new fuel cell technology. Just to make it more of a game, see if you can’t find this one within 5 seconds without any help.

I recall reading a while back that there’s two general ways to make something large invisible: 1) make light bend around an object so that you see the light from behind an object as you’d expect, or 2) take in light from behind an object and display the light to the viewer in front of it. I’ve seen this done before with projectors (on the same side of the viewer), but Mercedes has done it with LEDs:

      Note that the strategy of displaying light from behind on the front of something with displays is a very limited approach.  It will only ever work for exactly one view point.
