A beautiful, simple video worth sharing with friends, family, and of course, Mom. This video was made from asking real people on the street to say thank you to their mothers, and as you saw, there were some really interesting responses. Highlights:
Put together by content producer Michael Marantz, I felt the video was simple and relatable, given the responses we saw.
I also really appreciated the fact that the responses came from people from different ages, and different reasons they want to thank Mom for the impact she had on them.
While a number of responses jumped out for different reasons, two responses stuck with me. The obvious one was the lady starting 2nd in the video appreciating mom for doing the not-so-right things for them.
The other one… Him, above. He wanted to thank his mom for “taking care of me my whole life”, which is interesting because its often easy to forget that our parents see themselves in that continued role regardless of our age, and that most of us don’t appreciate that often as we should. It’s a nice reminder.
What I really appreciated about this video too is how frank many of the “thank you”s seemed to be. They seemed quite genuine, and touched on very private things about their lives.
Finally, I think the video worked quite well because… We’ve probably seen our moms teach/help/guide us towards similar things at the different ages of our lives. It goes from thanking mom for making food while you’re young, to thanking mom for introducing you to new music, to taking care of you through life itself. Made me think of the things my mom did for me and my family, and I hope it did for you too.
